MYF will meet Wednesday evening at 6:30, at Jeremy and Sheila's house. We will be competing in the LDC version of the "Amazing Race". Since some of our seniors will be leaving in the next few weeks, we will have our senior send off during the evening as well. Please bring along some money for dessert. We hope to be back to Jeremy and Sheila's around 9:30.

ATTENTION ALL BIKERS: In celebration of 25 years of service, Crooked Creek Christian Camp is sponsoring a 25-mile bike ride and a 2-5 fat tire time trial on Saturday, September 17th. A brochure and registration form are available in the foyer or contact Elaine Boshart. Register by September 6th to join the fun.

 

 

Crooked Creek Christian Camp needs volunteers as follows:

  1. 9 a.m. – 12 noon, Sat., Aug. 13 to prepare site for labyrinth.  Call Mary Piper (319-354-0058) or Kay Fleming (319-646-2028) to volunteer.
  2. A few persons to shingle cabins before Sept. 10.  Call the camp (319-653-3611) to set up a time for your group to come.

CMPC Choir - The first practice will be at 7:30 pm on Wednesday, August 10th at the Kalona Christian Fellowship Church. We are planning on having practices on Wednesday evenings until the big day arrives. The directors, Collette, Shawn and Jason, are looking for people who love to sing and are 12 years old or older. We would like this choir to be a venue for the younger members of our churches to be a part of Songfest.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mothers of Preschoolers will begin meeting on September 1st at Kalona Mennonite Church.  The group will meet the first and third Thursday of every month from 10 a.m. until noon through the month of May.  First registration is open until August 10th.  Any mother with children under the age of six are welcome to join us. For more information and/or to register call Cindy Bontrager at 646-5251.

 

MOPS is in need of Moppets helpers (people to be with children while mothers are meeting).  If you think this is something you could help with or would like to do, whether it is just for one time or on a permanent basis, please contact Renea Pickard at 656-3749 as soon as possible.

 

Jeff Selzer, youth pastor at Bethesda Mennonite Church, Henderson, NE will be licensed to ministry today during the morning worship service. Sharon Kennel, Conference Minister will be officiating. Please remember this service and Jeff's ministry to the youth, in your prayers today.

 

The Crowded Closet is seeking a full time manager to supervise volunteers and staff.  Must be computer literate, self-motivated, have good communication skills and be able to prioritize.  Must be able to lift, bend and be on your feet a lot of the time.  Should be able to work independently and as part of a team.  Occasional evenings or weekends.  Excellent public relations skills required.  Post secondary education appreciated.  Applications accepted from August 7 - 24, 2005.  Position available October 1st.  For more information and application packet, contact Don Swartzentruber (Home) 319-683-2559 (Cell) 319-936-8546 or Joanne Roth 319-653-7228.

 

Registration at Iowa Mennonite School for the 2005-2006 school year is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, August 8 and 9 from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Students along with their parents should register one of these two days. Appointments are not necessary. If you have questions, please call the school (656-2073)

Kalona Food Pantry serves an average of 41 families each time it is open. Supplies are running quite low. Items needed are as follows: Protein Items (canned meats, tuna, Peanut Butter); Canned Fruit; Soups (Especially creamed soups); Dry cereal (Not Oatmeal); Canned Vegetables (except green beans – need creamed corn); Toilet Paper; Do not send glass jars or dented cans. Items can be brought to the church.

 

Need help with clothes? Come to the Kalona United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall (4th & C) for a Clothes Give-Away of Sizes Infant to Adult Friday, August 12 3:00-7:30pm and Saturday, August 13 7:30-11:00 am.
